In 1999, Dr. Gencarelle retired from the mental health profession in order to pursue his love for aviation. He has 38 years of experience as a sport parachutist, 35 years in industrial sewing, and 25 years as a pilot and instructor. Today, he owns AVOT Industries, Inc., an industrial sewing company that designs and manufactures custom products for aviation-related fields. Dr. Gencarelle's emphasis is on the quality and safety of his products. He attributes his success to his ability to create products that meet and exceed customer expectations.
He holds a Ph.D. in psychology and a license as a flight instructor. He is also certified as a master parachute rigger by the Federal Aviation Administration. Dr. Gencarelle is a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association and the U.S. Parachute Association. In his free time, he serves on the board for the YMCA of Volusia County. He intends to expand his company by obtaining larger project and design contracts.
